“Charting the Course: India’s Strategic Role Tibet’s Future” was held at the India International Centre in collaboration with the Foundation for Non-Violent Alternatives on November 3, 2023.

Ambassador Kanwal Sibal

Ambassador Kanwal Sibal gave the Keynote address stating India’s key role in the larger Himalayas – Tibet and how he personally is of the opinion that His Holiness the Dalai Lama should be conferred the Bharat Ratna.

This was followed by a panel discussion on Tibet’s geopolitical centrality with Rebon Banerjee Dhar and Lobsang Gyatso Sither, moderated by Tenzin Younten.

His Eminence Kundeling Rinpoche

 

After a group discussion and the final Validation session was with His Eminence Kundeling Rinpoche, who stressed the pivotal role that India has played in preserving Tibet’s rich culture and identity since occupation. Furthermore he applauded the Tibetan youth in their vibrant participation and expression throughout the day.
